“I'm a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.”

Take time to enjoy moments in your day today, no matter how busy you are.
Our days can be so choked with stuff to do, and at the end of it all, we climb exhausted into bed, and haven't actually taken time to savor a moment. Even if it is only 5 minutes, stop, look around you, look at the details, look at your surroundings. Notice the sounds and smells, touch something to further bring you into the moment. |
If you are in the house or in an office, go outside into a garden, touch and smell the greenery, look at the leaves and flowers and be amazed at the uniqueness of each leaf. Breath in the fresh air, feel the air fill your lungs, while you focus on your breathing. Take in the shapes and the beauty around you as you breathe deeply. Even if in the city, notice the tuft of grass on the sidewalk or the clouds, find something to be amazed about.
This might sound or even at first, feel like a waste of time, but I can assure you, you will be glad you took the time. Done regularly, this simple practice of "being in the moment" can bring an abundance of pleasure and joy into your life.
The basic idea behind why this works, is by taking time to stop and notice, we are learning to take the time to appreciate and absorb our surroundings. After time spent doing this regularly, you will be able to do this more without planning it. You will stop more often and see things in more detail, and you will learn to appreciate the little things more. The little things will become bigger to you and even more amazing. Because it is so simple, it is easy forgotten or seen as a waste of time and effort.
It is in the simple practices as "being in the moment" that contentment and happiness is found. Don't let another day go by without taking the time to stop and appreciate the small things around you that are amazing and so easily missed.
